Creamy Country White Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons

    Fat ( rooster, pork, butter, pan drippings )


  • 3 tablespoons

    Flour


  • 3 cups

    whole milk


  • 2 cups

    sliced mushrooms ( I desire shiitakes ) sauteed in 1 T butter


  • 1.5 teaspoons

    salt (or to sort)


  • 1.5 teaspoons

    pepper ( would maybe perhaps possess to be peppery )

Instructions
  1. Heat stout over medium warmth. Add flour 1 Tablespoon at a time whisking repeatedly. Cook stirring frequently for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add milk a 1/2 cup or so at a time, whisking repeatedly. Lower warmth to medium low and simmer for 10 minutes or unless neatly thickened.
  3. Add simmered mushrooms, salt, and pepper.
  4. Wait on over buttermilk biscuits, mashed potatoes, grits, or your favourite starchy vessel for flavor.
